An Osteopathic Experience of The Field of the Heart
through Continuum Movement

A workshop led by Bonnie Gintis, DO
for Osteopaths & Osteopathic Students

Workshop will be taught in English & translated into German

Muenster, Germany: April 24-27, 2008

"The Field of the Heart" is an integral aspect of our existence, essential to the expression of our health, and fundamental to our connection to the world in which we live, but many of us struggle with fully engaging with this vital force. This workshop will present a wide scope of information about the heart and provide ways to integrate this knowledge through experience.

As Osteopaths, we are trained to be attentive to other people's anatomy and physiology, but not to our own. The goal of this workshops is to provide an experience, a felt sense of many concepts that are usually only experienced while treating another person. There will be lectures, discussions, and visual presentations to accompany movement, breathing, meditation explorations, and hands-on table sessions. This workshop experience can be valuable both as a form of self-treatment, and as a way to develop and deepen the diagnostic and treatment skills used with patients.

Bonnie Gintis offers a unique blend of Osteopathic principles and philosophy, scientific and medical information, combined with an opportunity to experience it all through Continuum Movement. Utilizing breath, sound, movement, meditative open attention, and hands-on perceptual sessions provides an opportunity to experience an embodied understanding of the wisdom of the living human body.

In "The Field of the Heart" we will inquire into innovative views of:

  • The anatomy, physiology, and embryology of the heart
  • psycho-neuro-immunological relationships
  • the dynamics of blood, lymph, and other fluid movements
  • visceral, spinal, and rib relationships
  • the sound of the heart and the sound of the movement of blood
  • common clinical problems involving the heart
  • the effects of foods, drugs (prescription & non-prescription), and other nutritional supplements on the heart and its field
  • perceiving "The Field of the Heart" in ourselves and in others
